She later revealed that she considered the black Gucci dress that she was given to perform in "too boring", so she asked her sister Karen to sew a Union Jack tea towel onto the front.
One year later, the dress was auctioned for charity as part of a sale of Spice Girls memorabilia. It was bought for £36,000 (plus commission) by Peter Morton, co–founder of the Hard Rock Café restaurant chain, to be displayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
